The forest park was created in Blasewitz, which was later incorporated into Dresden, in 1869, at a time when almost all of the original forest plots were being built over due to the strong demand for land in the villa colonies elsewhere.

One of Dresden's largest and most unique parks. The park's distinctive feature lies in the harmonious interplay of expansive pine groves, park-like sections with solitary deciduous trees, ornamental shrubs, and small meadows, as well as the deliberately integrated villas of the surrounding buildings and their gardens.
