There are two curious graves in the Steinhöfel Castle Park - two horse graves to the right behind the castle. It is not known whether these are real or just memorial stones. At least the inscriptions actually remind of two favorite animals of the former lord of the castle Valentin von Massow. One became "Hooray pardon!" and won the endurance ride from Berlin to Vienna in a record time of 85:26 hours. "Herzog" was horse number two, which apparently had an external flaw: if you believe the note on the stone, it was a loyal worker, but it fell it more by its unsightly front legs. 😊
