The Friendship Fountain is, alongside the fountain in the Swan Pond, the largest "water feature" in the city. It is not an ordinary ornamental fountain, but a work of art in public space, built according to a design by Erika Matthes and Jo Harbort. After four years of planning and construction, the fountain was put into operation in 1986.
