To reach it from Rosignano Marittimo, go to La Maestà (at the crossroads between Rosignano Solvay and Castelnuovo del Misericordia) and take Via della Tagliola, a small uphill dirt road that soon becomes a trail through the Mediterranean scrub. Shortly after the lake, a fork leads towards Monte Pelato and Castiglioncello, or towards Castelnuovo del Misericordia.
