The old water tower in Zaltbommel was designed by Jan Schotel and was built in 1905. The water tower has a height of 21 meters and had a water reservoir of 50 m³ and a clean water cellar of 6 m deep.

The water tower was decommissioned in 1960. The water reservoir was demolished in the 1960s and the tower was used as a weekend residence in the 1980s. In 1996 the entire 'head' was removed and re-bricked, for which the water tower prize 1996 from the Dutch Water Tower Foundation was obtained. After 2000, the tower was adapted as a residence and put into use as such.

The old water tower of Zaltbommel is privately owned and can be rented as accommodation. We stayed here for a week and had a very nice time. Absolute highlight and highly recommended.
