This is the Westgate and it contains a tiny museum which you should visit when open. You can also step outside at the top to enjoy a view down the High Street.

The West Gate was built mainly in the 13th Century but the west face of it was altered in the 14th century. There are also 2 gunports in the gatehouse that are dated 1392-4.
