The Prinsenbos, in the center of Grimbergen, is the ideal place for walking or jogging. The dolomite paths are also suitable for strollers and wheelchairs. The view of the ruins of the prince's castle gives this forest extra character. Feel like walking more? The walking connection from Basiliek to Basiliek, a 9 km long green connection between the Basilica of Grimbergen and the Basilica of Consolation in Vilvoorde, goes through the Prinsenbos.

The Prinsenbos is a forest close to the center of Grimbergen. In the forest are the ruins of the Prinsenkasteel, the football field of KSC Grimbergen, a sports hall and the forest chapel, a Marian chapel that was founded in 1954 by the soldiers of TTR from Vilvoorde and is owned by the municipality.
During the administration under Mayor Marleen Mertens, part of the forest at Speelbroek was felled in 2011 to make way for a parking lot for the Regenboogschool. This deforestation took place despite the fact that the municipality of Grimbergen did not have the necessary permits. The Association for Forests in Flanders (VBV) protested against this.

Not so far from the center, this is a nice passage with a ruined castle on top...
