"The Wittekind coffee house combines very different architectural styles and lots of stories." The confectioner Paul Henning built the house in 1909 in Art Nouveau style and ran the Wittekind coffee house including the confectionery. In 1929 he then acquired another plot of land and built the pavilion in the Bauhaus style on it. He was succeeded by the Schade family, which has been producing the most delicious Baumkuchen here for three generations. A real institution in Halle and central Germany. "There was an identity here that had to be preserved, but also had to be revived"
