At the train station in Haan-Gruiten you can park very well at the weekend. Numerous hiking trails in the Neandertal can be reached from here. The Neanderlandsteig is an approximately 240 km long circular hiking trail in the Niederbergisches Land, in the area of the district of Mettmann and the neighboring cities of Essen, Düsseldorf and Solingen. Of course, you can also only go in stages.

"Welcome to Neanderland!
Relax and experience between the Rhine and the hills of the Bergisches LandThe neanderland begins right outside the gates of the large metropolises on the Rhine and Ruhr and extends far into the Bergisches Land. The tourism region around the ten towns of the district of Mettmann, each with its own special features and offers, stands for adventure culture, tradition and joie de vivre. The focus is also on history, art and events as well as a huge range of sports and leisure activities."

The long-distance hiking trail *NeanderlandSteig* officially begins in Haan-Gruiten. The first stage from Haan-Gruiten to Wülfrath-Düssel is therefore very varied and quaintly beautiful.
