You are standing here among the graves of more than 1000 Russian and Soviet soldiers from both world wars. A place of silence and remembrance, where we, who are allowed to make beautiful cycling trips in peacetime, should pause for a moment.

Although I've always (66 years) lived in Münster, today I was there for the first time. In cloudy weather I went through the cemetery and saw many graves from the First World War with the inscription "Unknown Russian soldier". Most from 1916. Most of those buried here probably come from the former prison camp at Haus Spital.
How many may still have consciously noticed that their lives would end here, far away from home and family.
How many at home and with the families who stayed behind have never found out where these "unknown" soldiers ended up.The next few kilometers on my further tour were somehow still connected with these thoughts.Whoever comes by here should take the time to visit this cemetery.
