Very beautiful and well-preserved moated castle from the 11th century. Hülshoff Castle is the birthplace of the great German poet Annette von Droste-Hülshoff.

During my visit, a literary event was held there from Fri-Sun, so the area was closed to other visitors. Means, you should call before a visit, if the area is open to visitors !!

Hülshoff Castle is a typical Münsterland moated castle. The castle was the ancestral home of the Barons Droste zu Hülshoff from 1417 to 2012 and is the birthplace and childhood home of the poet Annette von Droste-Hülshoff. Hülshoff Castle is also known for its large, well-kept park. In addition to a large number of rhododendron bushes that bloom in May, hydrangeas that bloom in summer, especially, directly behind the main entrance, attract many visitors.
