One of the landmarks of the Mühlburg district is the St. Peter and Paul Church with its distinctive twin towers. Since Christmas 1886, it has served the Mühlburg Catholics as a parish church. On January 1 of the same year, Mühlburg was incorporated into the city of Karlsruhe. In December, the Mühlburg parish was separated from the mother parish of Daxlanden and raised to the status of curate, in 1899 to the 'City Parish of St. Peter and Paul Karlsruhe-Mühlburg ad Sanctos Apostolas Petrum et Paulum'. The parish church, named after the two apostles, was built in neo-Renaissance style together with the associated rectory. Its architect was Adolf Williard, at that time head of the archbishop's building authority in Karlsruhe. The vicarage was completely destroyed in a bomb attack on December 4, 1944, the church was partially destroyed, the residents and some churchgoers lost their lives.

It was destroyed in World War II in 1944 and was rebuilt in 1954/55 by Werner Groh.
