"This church was built from scratch by the noble Count and Lord Georg Friedrich the Elder, Count of Hohenlohe and Lord of Langenburg and his wife, Mrs. Dorothea, née Reussin of Plauen, which was completed in five years, from 1589 to 1593, but was renovated again in 1717, and thus on the Evangelical Jubilee Year." This is the inscription on the front right pillar of the church, which was uncovered during repair work in 1929. From 1589 to 1593, a three-aisled hall with cross vaults on four pillars in the Renaissance style was added to the old Gothic choir. The choir became the burial place of the Count's house. The Württemberg architect Heinrich Schickhardt was involved in an advisory capacity. The massive, square, 32-meter-high tower with five floors and its beautifully shaped, The slate-covered helmet roof, together with the Mändles and Lachnersturm towers, has become a landmark of our hometown far out into the plain.

In 1972/74 the church got its current appearance. By demolishing the side galleries and the organ gallery in the choir, the church will be much brighter, the church pews will be removed and variable seating with around 200 seats will be installed. The Ehrlich organ is rebuilt and placed on the ground floor of the choir room.
