Nothing is known about the origins of the chapel, which existed in the 15th century. In the second half of the 15th century, a new church was built, of which the choir and tower are still preserved today. In the 17th century, a new sacristy was added to the east wall of the choir and in 1765 the main portal was renewed. In 1888, the north wall had to be rebuilt and received three window openings, like those already present on the south side. The church and its furnishings were renovated between 1961 and 1962, but by the early 1970s the nave had become dilapidated and the two outer walls were in danger of collapsing. For this reason, the nave was completely demolished and rebuilt in its original form between 1976 and 1977, with the old stones being reused and the choir and bell tower remaining unchanged. The plans for the reconstruction of the nave were provided by the Mechernich architect Werner Geyer. Source: Wikipedia

Interesting in the church are the books of the dead of the former residents of Reetz. There is also a book with residents who died in the war - interesting to read.
