The lime kiln is a historical testimony to the lime distillery in the Eifel. The type of construction goes back to Roman times. Information on the Lindweiler lime kiln see kuladig.de/Objektansicht/KLD-271121

In the 1980s, the remains of a lime kiln were discovered at the foot of a steeply sloping southerly slope. The kiln has a single tongue and an inner diameter of about two meters. The walls made of quarry stone are 0.6 to 0.8 meters thick. The entrance to the south for loading is about one meter high and 0.7 meters wide. A channel led from this entrance into the kiln, which was covered by a grating.
The southerly orientation was very effective, as the draft hole was placed directly at the foot of the slope. This meant that the almost constant wind could supply the kiln with sufficient oxygen for the combustion of the lime.
The kiln was built between 1850 and 1870. It was one of several lime kilns that were operated in the Rohrer Kalkmulde. The raw material for the lime kiln could be obtained from the lime found here. Source: kuladig.de/Objektansicht/KLD-271121
