Since 1949, the Isemarkt in Hamburg has attracted around 6,000 visitors to Eppendorf on market days, who come to do their weekly shopping or simply to stroll and chat under the elevated railway bridge.

In theory, anyone who does their weekly shopping at the market early in the morning shouldn't be a morning person. But even local farmers regularly head to Hamburg's Isemarkt when they want to stock up on fresh, regional produce.

Every Tuesday and Friday, Isestraße transforms into a paradise of market stalls just in time for dawn. What makes this favorite market for Hamburg residents special is not only the incredible variety of exhibitors, but also its unique location:
The Isemarkt stretches for about one kilometer under an elevated railway bridge on the U3 line, from the Hoheluftbrücke to the Eppendorfer Baum.
Among the approximately 200 vendors, there's nothing you won't find: from fresh fish, crisp apples from the farm, colorful flowers, spicy cheeses, exotic teas, to fragrant herbs and delicious vegetables, Hamburg gourmets can find everything they need for their everyday lives, as well as for life's little pleasures. You can even find Hamburg poetry here – if you're lucky, even as a live performance. However, if you don't urgently need anything specific, you're still recommended to stop by the Isemarkt for a stroll or a coffee. Among the numerous vendors and visitors, a very special atmosphere emerges here, one that isn't easily found at the approximately 100 other weekly markets in Hamburg.
