It is a war memorial in the area of ​​Rudelsburg near Bad Kösen.
It was built by the Kösener Senior Convents Association (KSCV) and the Association of Old Corps students (VAC) in honor of the 2360 dead of the First World War from the ranks of the Kösener Corps. The Congress of the VAC decided in May 1921 to build a memorial monument and to collect donations. It was not until 1924 that the Berlin sculptor Hermann Hosäus was commissioned with the design.
