The Schwabinger See, right next to the Ungererbad, is the centerpiece of an extensive residential area that was built in the 1980s on the site of the former Schwabinger Güterbahnhof. Like the Olympic Lake, the Nymphenburg-Biedersteiner Canal flows through it, which, however, bears a different name at this point and is called "Black Lacquer". The canal then continues to flow towards the Schwabinger Bach in the English Garden (source: Muenchen.de).

In the densely built-up north of Schwabing, the L-shaped lake is a popular place for walks and sunbathing. The lake was created in the 1980s on the site of the former Schwabing freight yard. It is traversed by the Nymphenburg-Biederstein Canal, which is called "Schwarze Lacke" here. It is right next to the Ungererbad and in the immediate vicinity of the Highlight Towers and the Schwabinger Tor development area. Swimming is not allowed in the lake - but you can see geese, swans, coots and other waterfowl. Two islands in the lake serve as a retreat for them.
