The history of the chapel goes back to 1713. At that time, Johann Carl Bartolotti Freiherr von Partenfeld, who is also commemorated by the Palais Bartolotti-Partenfeld in Vienna, donated a wooden votive chapel on this site. Four years later a stone building was erected, enlarged in 1773 and the tower was raised in 1884. Due to dilapidation, the chapel was closed in 1905 and demolished in 1906 because it also represented a traffic obstacle on Dornbacher Straße.

In the years 1908 to 1910, the St. Anne's Chapel was rebuilt according to plans by the architect Johann Steinmetz, whereby it was now oriented towards the north. In 1910, on the occasion of the 80th birthday of Emperor Franz Joseph I, the "Association of Gardeners and Gardeners in Dornbach and Surroundings" had an imperial oak planted in front of the chapel, which is commemorated by a memorial stone.
