The Alte Wache, a dark yellow brick building in the typical neo-renaissance style of Hamburg's early days, was built in 1890 by Carl Johann Zimmermann as a police station. With her, the architect and Hamburg construction director continued the construction of a large number of official buildings in the fast-growing city, including the Eppendorfer Hospital and the Fuhlsbüttel Central Prison.

The police station in Eichenstrasse was the place of 29 constables under an officer. Original floor plans, which are exhibited in our practice today, show the guardroom as well as a detention cell, a reporting room and a washroom.
