Iris Burn Hut is a refuge managed by the DOC (Department of Conservancy). It has 50 beds in dormitories, and even if you have the impression that it is a lot I advise you to book as soon as possible, on the DOC website:

From the refuge you can walk along a river and to the Iris Burn waterfalls. Nice little walk in peace after walking on the ridges (exposed to all the winds).

Beautifully located DoC hut… part of the Kepler Track…. Sometimes you can see keas here

Kiwi sighting around 11PM on the waterfall track. Few glowworms as well. Definitely worth a late night tour.
