This is one of the over 300 knight stones of the Palatinate Forest Association. It points out the following:
"The Moosalb rises 40 steps from the Ritterstein. In the upper course of the stream it flows through the Moosalbtal and a little later through the Karlstal. [...] The Moosalb flows into the Schwarzbach near Waldfischbach.
Just a few meters to the west of the Ritterstein [and on the other side of the hiking trail] is the Moosalbsprung outlet structure [NOT a Ritterstein!), which channels clear spring water into a sandstone canal."

For Ritterstein fans: The inscription on the Ritterstein also includes the bent direction arrow and the "PWV" abbreviation at the bottom right.

The Ritterstein is a massive sandstone block marking the end of a series of stones on a hillside. The inscription reads: MOOSALBSPRUNG (Moss Spring). Below the inscription is: 40 Schr. (40 steps). Between 40 and Schr. (steps) is a directional arrow. At the bottom right of the stone is the abbreviation P W V, for the Palatinate Forest Association.
