The plaque describes the violence of war that the village of Rocherath-Krinkelt was at the mercy of during the Ardennes offensive. The village was in the attack area of the German divisions.

Information board 19 on the path of remembrance informs us about the last months of the Second World War in Rocherath-Krinkelt. After Germany attacked its Western European neighbors in spring 1940, Rocherath-Krinkelt belonged to the German Reich, but was recaptured by American troops in September 1944. The population was evacuated to Malmedy on October 6th. When the Ardennes offensive began in mid-December 1944, the village was right in the attack area of the German divisions. However, the 2nd and 99th US Infantry Divisions managed to hold the place until December 20, 1944, when a new line of defense was established in front of Elsenborn. The fighting, which resulted in losses for both sides, shifted to the village and Rocherath-Krinkelt was largely destroyed until it was retaken by US troops on January 30, 1945. On the way in the German-Belgian border area of the "Hohe Fens / Eifel Nature Park", the hiker not only encounters the beautiful nature, but also time and again signposts and information boards of the "Sentier du souvenir" ("Path of Remembrance"). This is a cross-border community project that – over a total length of 94 kilometers, mainly along the former West Wall – reminds of the horrors of war and tyranny and reminds each generation anew to preserve peace (still a very important and, if we look at Eastern Europe, highly topical concern).

Particularly striking (or better: noteworthy) stations on this "path of remembrance" are marked with an information board - an invitation to pause on one's own (life) path.
