Hiking

When US troops took Rocherath-Krinkelt on September 12, 1944, this beautiful village also became a battlefield. For several months the front ran in a large wooded area towards the west wall. German shock troops sometimes came as far as Rocherath-Krinkelt to reconnoitre. They also laid mines, which endangered residents in addition to shelling. Information board 21 commemorates the numerous people who were seriously injured or even killed by these mines. Source: information board on site.
