The landscape consists of damp mountain meadows, small moorland areas, forests, and near-natural streams. The area is particularly known for its large populations of wild daffodils, which turn vast meadows yellow in spring. Parts of the valley are designated as a protected area and belong to the European Natura 2000 network. The Holzwarche Valley is considered a valuable habitat for numerous plant and animal species of the High Ardennes.
