The Erfurter owes this beautiful fountain to a competition from 1880. In order to commemorate the successful completion of the construction of the central waterworks, this competition was announced, which was won by the then 38-year-old Berlin architect and craftsman Heinrich Stöckhardt (1842-1920).
Two oversized figures personifying two traditional Austrian industries adorn Erfurt's Angerbrunnen fountain on the left and right. A male figure between attributes such as a hammer and a vice symbolizes the machine and weapon industry as well as the craft and arts and crafts.

Pay attention to the details of the two figures. The goddess Flora has a flower in her hand, which is not (any more) part of the fountain in this form.
