Diepensteyn Castle was rebuilt on the foundations of the former Steenhuffelse count's castle and was once part of the military network of the Duke of Brabant. It is therefore very strongly connected to Brabant's identity and tradition.

After the French Revolution, Diepensteyn was no longer inhabited and fell into serious disrepair. Since 1989, it has been owned by the Palm brewery and reconstruction quickly began as a contribution to the historical heritage of its municipality Steenhuffel.

Diepensteyn Castle is located in a beautiful domain amidst extensive ponds. The impressive inner courtyard houses the coach house and the stud farm where the Brabant draft horse, the signboard of the Palm brewery, found shelter.

The moated castle 'Diepensteyn' has a history dating back to the 13th century.

Moated castle Diepensteyn was built as a military structure in 1290 in a swampy area.

The residential tower was gradually strengthened into a walled moated castle. In the mid-15th century, Daneel van Bouchout enriched the castle with an entrance gate, drawbridge and a 'house of plaisantiën'. After more than three centuries in the hands of the 'van Bouchout', Diepensteyn changed owners. The military function belonged to the past and the castle wall was demolished.

The 17th century became Diepensteyn's golden age.

Embellishment works were carried out with the addition of a gallery with Venetian arches (1616) and a domestic chapel (1618).

In 1675 the complex was expanded with a gatehouse, a coach house and horse stables.

At the end of the 18th century, Diepensteyn fell into decline.

Diepensteyn was empty and in 1825 the nobles had the keep, the gatehouse, the coach house and the stables demolished. The castle building became a farm. Gradually all the ramparts were filled in.

In 1985, Brouwerij Palm bought the 'Kasteelke' with lands, partly from the de Lalaing family, partly from farmer De Boeck. After a thorough historical and archaeological investigation, the entire site was rebuilt on the original foundations between 1993 and 1996 under the impulse of Jan Toye. The castle garden and landscape were also restored to their former glory. The castle became a seminar and party location until 2017. The stables and the cart and coach house became a stud farm to promote the living heritage of 'the Belgian Draft Horse'.

The castle and stud farm were thoroughly renovated between 2017 and 2019. Today the Castle houses the headquarters of the Single Family Office Diepensteyn nv.

50 years ago this building was a ruined pigsty. The current building is a beautiful renovation.
