Bike Touring Highlight (Segment)
The König-Ludwig-Trasse is a beautiful railway cycle path in Recklinghausen. There are always relics from the coal mining era along the way.

The entire KLT is worthwhile because you pass old industrial wastelands and noticed only in this course, the vastness of the old facilities.

The KLT connects the Ruhr metropolitan area with the Haard recreation area, although it is not yet finally completed. The newer, northeastern section is equipped with an excellent black ceiling according to the new RVR standard; rest areas and kilometers are just as natural. The route currently ends at the former Becklem train station. The 3rd BA will then continue to Oer-Erkenschwick, directly to the edge of the Haard.

A visit to the private apiary BIENENHORT SUDERWICH is also worthwhile for bike groups. Beekeeping tour including honey tasting and visit to the garden with the former locomotive hall of the König Ludwig 4/5 mine.

Very pleasant to drive, use the path very often. It's a nice south-east connection in my city.

Beautiful railway line, with relics from the mining industry to marvel at! There is a diesel locomotive, a battery locomotive and also a catenary locomotive from underground! There is also a coal cart on a tipping device, extension arches with pipelines and EMS rails, a rope sheave, a shield extension and mine graffiti! So almost everything a friend's heart desires!

Very nice connection between Castrop canal port and Recklinghausen Suderwich. There is hope that the KLT will continue to Oer-Erkenschwick, so that the Haard recreational area and the Haltern area can be easily reached by bike.

Good bike route on an old railway line. Not very scenic, but a good way to get from A to B!

The König Ludwig Trasse is a great opportunity to cycle from the Rhine Herne Canal in Herne (Castop-Rauxel Pöppinghausen) Some say it starts at the Herne Sea. !!!
You pass the former King Ludwig mine.
The Suderwicher Alm is a little further on.
The König Ludwig Trasse currently ends in the Becklemer Busch nature reserve.
The route is to be built up to the Haard
The current route length from the Herner Meer to the Becklemer Busch approx. 9 km

Another section of the KLT between Ortlohstraße and Emscherbrücke has been asphalted and has been open to traffic since March 22nd, 2022. Thus, even more relaxed driving on this great route is possible.
