Archaeological finds from burial mounds prove that Celts migrated from the east lived here. Of the group of five burial mounds, Mound 4, which is still clearly visible, was surveyed and excavated in 1948. The mound contained the skeleton of a 25-year-old, petite woman. A brooch, a hairpin, and typical Celtic hollow arm and foot rings were recovered. The burial took place in 460 BC, during the Hallstatt period. The finds can be seen in the Appeleshof Museum in Gechingen.
