Managed by the Woodland Trust Halldale Wood is a large area of mixed woodland straddling Halldale Brook. The woods consist of a mix of Oak, Birch and Ash with some Yew. There is a good ground cover of plants and shrub and lots of woodland birds and other wildlife.

Mountain biking

Whitesprings in the North of the wood is technical and very boggy in the winter. Roots, rocks, streams, twists & turns, ups & downs with a few fallen-down trees blocking the way. There's a beauty spot where all the tracks meet at the bridge over Halldale Brook. Halldale itself has some nice easy singletrack.

Hiking

Halldale Wood is a lovely mixed woodland managed by the Woodland Trust. It's predominantly Oak, Birch and Ash with some Yew. The ancient woodland has a great lower carpet of plants which includes a beautiful display of bluebells in the spring.
