This is how federal road is fun: The old B31 between Zarten and Freiburg (formerly congested long-distance truck route) was cut in half by the width of the lane and thus renatured into a beautiful hiking and cycling path. Highly recommended due to the many beautiful individual trees with the status of "natural monument" as well as otherwise wonderful views of the Black Forest all around!

Of the old B31 between Ebnet and Zarten only half is left and now "only" an agricultural path that is best suited for cycling. Although there is no shortage of beautiful cycle routes between Freiburg and Kirchzarten, the old B31 is definitely one of them.
