The Tour Cardinal, also known as Poterne or Cardinal Tower, is part of the medieval city fortifications of Dinan. The 13th-century watchtower complex had a small passage opening that allowed discreet access from the fortified city to the banks of the Rance. It is among the oldest preserved elements of the city wall and testifies to the strategic importance of Dinan as a fortified trading city in the Middle Ages.
