Cycling

The bridge section comes from the half-timbered bridge with a roadway below that was built over the Enz in 1884. It ran upstream parallel to the current prestressed concrete bridge. It was dismantled in 2006.
Before that, there was already a wooden bridge at this point, which was built to operate the section of the Northern Railway between Bietigheim and Heilbronn, which was put into operation on July 25, 1848.
In order to preserve the bridge as a technical monument, a pillar was built on the cycle path and a bridge section was added.

Hiking

The historic part of the bridge from 1874 is located on the Enztal cycle path, near the new railway bridge. The industrial monument weighs 20 tons, is 5 m wide, 7 m high and is set on a 3 m high concrete base. The part of the original railway bridge that has been preserved as a fragment is a reminder of the era of industrialization and the strategic development of Besigheim through the Stuttgart-Heilbronn railway line in the 19th century.
