The steeple of the first church is still preserved, on which the number "1408" should be read according to other sources "1208". Studies on the church tower showed that it originally stood alone and that the three-aisled nave was added later, of which smaller remains of the wall have been preserved. The church was founded by the Bad Herrenalb monastery. 1278 is the oldest evidence of a pastor in Grünwettersbach. The baptismal font that has been preserved to this day bears the year 1491. Since 1534 the church has been Protestant.
