The castle was owned by the Viscounts of Jodoigne and the Counts of Glymes in the 16th and 17th centuries.
What remains of the old castle today is a beautiful and large building, recently renovated, whose facade in Gobertange stone gives an extra touch to the Grand’Place.
The building continues along the rue de la Maladrerie and ends on a very beautiful turret or “gloriette” in brick and Gobertange stone.
The castle is now private.

Viscount Castle enjoyed its splendor under the Earls of Glymes in the 16th and 17th centuries. And notably under Winand de Glymes, in 1668, who was Viscount of Jodoigne. This small castle in Gobertange today looks more like a large house of notables. The ground floor has a beautiful wooden stairwell dating from 1730, an Empire ceiling in the dining room, but also and above all the 61 ares garden which is located at the back and which is invisible from the Grand- Place. Left in relative abandonment for almost a quarter of a century, but thanks to its new owner Pierre Swine, the Château de la Vicomté is in the process of being reborn. The latter bought the property a year ago. He decided to restore it (without subsidies) according to the rules of the art. The work is expected to last three years. Ultimately, Pierre Swine will divide the castle into apartments...
