The Ottermann Schnellweg is a connecting route between Wasseler Straße in Sehnde and the district of Bolzum. But you won't find the name on the map, because it's officially called Klein Bolzumer Weg. It was created in the 1960s as a connecting route from Bolzum, which was still independent at the time, to Klein Bolzum, a residential area that belonged to Bolzum at the time, but was structurally more of a unit with Sehnde. The then mayor of Bolzum, Helmut Ottermann (1919-1980), lived in Klein Bolzum. The reason for the popular nickname can be found in the name itself. Thanks to the connecting route, Ottermann was able to get from his place of residence to Bolzum town hall more quickly and did not have to drive via Sehnde.
Today the path is closed to private vehicles, so only pedestrians or cyclists can cross the bridge over the Mittelland Canal. Farmers also have access to the lock.
At the end of Bolzum lies the Jewish cemetery, which is well worth seeing.
