During the French occupation in 1794, Altweidelbach was completely plundered. The left part of the Rhineland belonged to France until 1815 and to Prussia after 1815. The former Oberamt has now been replaced by the district of Simmern, and the mayor's office has been replaced by the office. Large fires hit the site in 1866, 1897 and 1975 when three barns and a dwelling house burned down, several smaller individual fires occurred at the beginning of the century and most recently in 1993.
