The ingenious designer's name was Dr. Ing. hc Friedrich Voß and died in Kiel in 1953, contrary to all rumors to the contrary.

Only in 1988 was this bridge declared a "Technical Monument", after the two characteristic buildings on the stair towers had already been removed.
