The Parador de las Cañadas del Teide is a 3-star hotel owned by the Spanish company Paradores de Turismo and is located in the National Park at the foot of Mount Teide on the Spanish island of Tenerife.
Promoted by the General Directorate of Tourism and carried out by the architect Jesús Valverde Viñas, it was inaugurated in 1960, linked to the old concept of a mountain refuge, located at the foot of Mount Teide at 2,150 metres above sea level and endowed with a spectacular landscape. The property was transferred to the State by the City Council of La Orotava.

The summit of Teide, also called El Pilón or Pan de Azúcar (German: Sugarloaf), is now a popular tourist destination. The summit cone of Teide, which is around 200 meters high, is topped by a smaller crater with a diameter of 80 meters.
The summit can only be climbed with a special permit from the park administration. The permit is valid for a time slot of two hours (4 intervals; 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.) and is free of charge. 200 places are allocated daily. If you want to take the cable car down, you should find out about the last departure.
If you want to hike the Pico del Teide, you usually take the route via Montaña Blanca. On this tour, the Alta Vista mountain hut (3,250 m) is located below the summit. If you stay overnight here, you can climb the summit of Teide from there without an additional permit. However, you must reserve an overnight stay and the summit climb must be completed by 9 a.m. Even in summer, the weather at this altitude can be cool and changeable, so you should remember to bring warm clothing. Sturdy shoes are also required.
