The way is indeed paved, but "all weather".

The Franzosenweg is one of the most beautiful walking routes in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. It meanders over 3734 meters along the Schwerin Inner Lake from the castle garden to the Zippendorfer Strand (excellent for swimming in summer!) and has something in store for strollers: an excellent view of the imposing Schwerin Castle, numerous places to stop for refreshments such as small cafés or high-quality restaurants and a very special flair.
The towers of the castle reflected in the water, the magnificent town villas on the second third of the route or the massive ruins of the former spa building at the end of the path give you the feeling of walking in one of Paris' parks.Incidentally, the Franzosenweg received its name during the Franco-Prussian War (1870/71). The military conflict also brought French prisoners of war to Schwerin, who had to build a path on Lake Schwerin in 1870: the Franzosenweg.dbmobil.de/reisen/d360/schwerin-franzosenweg

The Franzosenweg is a wide paved path that is located directly on the shore of Lake Schwerin. There are great views of the lake here. Both cyclists and pedestrians have a lot of space here. A lot can be going on here on sunny days.
