The Lago delle Lame is a small mirror of water of glacial origin surrounded by thick woods, it is located within the Forest of the Blades and from here numerous excursions begin. You can reach the plateau of Mount Aiona through the Prè de Lame pass and continuing on the Alta Via dei Monti Liguri, or you can detour inside the Agoraie Reserve where the route develops between beautiful lakes and ponds. The characteristic Wood Museum is of particular interest for the little ones and is set up near the lake within the beech forest. But why is it called Lago delle Lame? The word Lame means "small hollow valleys". About 20 thousand years ago the Monte Aiona glacier, sliding downstream, dug numerous small valleys and the Lago delle Lame, which is located at a lower altitude than the other basins, is 8 meters deep. On the shore of the lake upstream, the moraine of the ancient glacier is still clearly visible.
