The Sword in the Rock of Monte Gifarco is able to thrill both adults and children. A real attraction that feeds the imagination and curiosity. In reality, the idea stems from a high symbolic value that grandparents have been telling their grandchildren for generations. The legend sees the brave knight San Galgano as the protagonist. While he was returning from the Crusades he decided to stick his sword into the stone to form a cross. Its symbol thus sanctioned the end of the bloody battles and the victory of Christianity. In fact, a plaque next to the sword shows this writing:"Through this cross that the holy knight Galgano made with his sword may the love and peace of Christ spread on Earth."Over the years some vandals have tried several times to draw the sword to evoke the story of King Arthur, often causing various damage. But still today Mount Gifarco stands out with its symbol of peace in the peace of a lush and fairytale park.
