Market Fountain and Market Square, Reutlingen
Around 1180, Reutlingen was granted market rights by the Hohenstaufen Emperor Frederick I Barbarossa. Small paving stones on the market square show the floor plan of the Renaissance town hall, which was destroyed in the city fire of 1726. The market fountain was created by Leonhard Baumhauer in 1570 and renovated by Carl Lindenberger in 1901. A knight's sculpture of Emperor Maximilian II (1527–1576) stands on the fountain column.

Although Reutlingen was badly destroyed in World War II, there are still numerous old half-timbered houses in the old town.
