Between Kaufingerstrasse and Augustinerstrasse and Liebfrauenstrasse. Headquarters of the fashion house Hirmer (formerly Bamberger & Herz). On the left part of the building it is also referred to as the house “To the Beautiful Tower”. After the former "Beautiful Tower" in Munich's medieval city wall, which was demolished in 1807. The figural decorations on the facade come from the sculptor Julius Seidler.
The Hirmer headquarters was founded in 1914 as the Munich branch of the textile company Bamberger & Hertz. The house was built between 1912 and 1914 by the architects Eugen Hönig & Karl Söldner on behalf of the Jewish owner. During the Nazi era, Siegfried Fritz Bamberger transferred management to his department head Johann Hirmer. He then changed the name of the company to “Hirmer” in 1938. Bamberger was able to flee to the USA. In November 1945, Hirmer offered to give him back the business. But Bamberger didn't want to go back to Munich.
