The Große Kalterer Graben is a ditch below the Kalterer See, which was cut in 1774. It serves to drain the valley floor and the orchards located there. It runs south from the lake and flows into the Adige after about 26 km at San Michele (TN). Water is taken along the trench for irrigation.
