The Church of the Magdalene is located between the Place de la Concorde and the Opera House, in the heart of Haussmanian Paris. Its construction lasted from 1764 to 1842. Its appearance of a Greek temple, without a cross or bell tower, is very atypical in the area of religious architecture. Napoleon wanted this church to be a pantheon to the glory of his armies. Before entering through one of the two monumental bronze doors, gaze at the Corinthian columns that surround the building. Inside, see sculptures, paintings, and the famous Byzantine-style mosaic by Charles-Joseph Lameire. The wonderful church organ is the work of Aristide Cavaillé-Coll. Throughout the year, both during the day and at night, the church organizes high-quality classical music concerts.
