A path dedicated to Josef Ressel, whose thoughts and actions were closely linked to Trieste and the Karst. He was a forester by profession and made a significant contribution to the reforestation of the deforested and overgrazed Karst, not least to secure a supply of timber for shipbuilding—which is why we can hike there today along shady paths. He is better known, however, as the (co-)inventor and key designer of the ship's propeller, although he was denied recognition for this during his lifetime.
