You can see the Lippizaner running around freely - entry to the stables is exorbitantly expensive.

A great stud from which the Spanish rider horses come. Take at least half a day.

The Lipizzaner stud of the Spanish Riding School in Vienna, one of the oldest stud studs in the world, has its home here in the middle of the Karst. After the loss of Slovenia in World War I, Austria bred its "own" Lipizzaner horses in Styria - Lipica had to start small again after the Second World War: only 11 horses had survived.
Entry is not cheap. A visit to the very extensive facility is definitely worthwhile, especially if you take part in a guided tour.
