One of the most beautiful spots on the Hamburg Elbe is the Ottensener Strand near Övelgönne. The unique charm of this section of the Elbe beach, to which a stairway with 126 steps (called Himmelsleiter) leads down from the Elbchaussee for pedestrians, is worth a trip in itself. But there is also another pearl there: the beach pearl.
The snack bar has developed into a hip shop. It's uncomplicated, as it should be for a beach club. The drinks and snacks are available at reasonable prices. Children and dogs romp around, the adults let their souls dangle.
The Strandperle is no longer an insider tip. This is where the people of Hamburg are drawn to sit in the sand, let their gaze wander over the Elbe, dream after the ships and experience the romantic atmosphere in the evening. The Old Swede and the museum harbor Oevelgönne are only a few minutes' walk away.
