One of the most beautiful spots on the Hamburg Elbe is the Ottensener Strand near Övelgönne. In 1911, Robert Hirte opened a "milk hall" on the banks of the Elbe. It was popular with pilots and boaters coming in after work. Eva Lührs took it over after the Second World War and renamed it "Lührs Raststätte". In 1974 she passed the location on to Elke and Bernt Seyfert. When the storm tide in 1976 left almost nothing but driftwood from the building, the rebuilding gave it the name that this place still bears today: the "Strandperle".
