      The Jakobuskirche
The church, originally consecrated here in 1679, was struck by lightning during a service in 1719 and burned down to the outer walls, including the inventory. It was not rebuilt until 1723-24. The carved altar in the cartilage baroque style was originally commissioned for the Glückstadt Castle Church, but when it was demolished due to dilapidation, the Danish King Frederick IV donated this altar for the newly built St. James Church. It contains eleven medallion-like image fields, including scenes from the life of Jesus, which are arranged around the main relief with the crucifixion.
The "royal box" that the grateful Brunsbüttel residents dedicated to their sovereign Frederick IV is also unique, even if he never came to Brunsbüttel during his reign the baptismal font and the baptismal lid with John the Baptist are works of the late baroque.
The buoy epitaph, which was donated around 1590 in memory of the Brunsbüttel pastor Boethius Boie and his son Klaus, who was the first known parish bailiff in Brunsbüttel, still comes from the previous church.
